Chicago to Revisit Departmental Consolidation

In an effort to cut costs, the city of Chicago will again experiment with department mergers next year. Mayor Richard M. Daley today appointed Andrew J. Mooney as interim head of the new Department of Housing and Economic Development. As of January 1, 2011, the new department will consolidate the Department of Community Development and the Department of Zoning and Land Use.
