Chicago’s New Condo Conversion Ordinance

During former Mayor Daley’s last City Council meeting, the council passed an ordinance amending Chapter 13-72 of the Chicago Municipal Code. This ordinance has been developed over the past three years and promises to provide protection to renters of units that are being converted from apartments to condominiums. After taking effect next January, the ordinance will ensure that developers provide enough disclosure regarding developments and give notice and assistance to renters of units subject to the planned conversion.

New Chicago Fire Commissioner Approved by City Council

Robert S. Hoff, a 33-year veteran of the Chicago Fire Department, is set to become the city’s Fire Commissioner after the City Council unanimously approved his appointment today. Hoff replaces the retiring John Brooks and was appointed by Mayor Richard M. Daley last week.
